Kismet has always lived up to its name. Many people have had the most memorable time of their life and have met their true love while summering here. Perhaps, it is the lack of orderliness, the large group houses and the two renowned bars centered about a marina, steps from the fery, that have created the fun and carefree lifestyle of this community.

Until recently, cottages here did not have street addresses, but rather given witty and imaginative names. “Happy Daze”, “Zanadu”, “Rusty Tit”, “Kismet Hilton”, and “Forbidden City” are some of the more interesting ones. At one time there was even an entire walk with houses named after various fruit. Navigation in the community was done by those in the know and only with a cocktail in hand.

However, no longer is Kismet a habitat made up primarily of professional singles looking for that special someone. Over the years, fate has brought many of these singles together and as families they have purchased and improved homes that were once filled with “groupers”. Now, every year, more and more children can be seen running around the playground, splashing in the ocean waves, and sitting under the flag memorial outside the market, eating ice cream. Kismet, as fate would have it, is no longer just a place where one can let loose, but also has become a haven for people of all sorts to escape the heat and pressures of the city.
